Wests have claimed their maiden Tom Locker Cup title following a three-wicket victory over Merewether at No.1 Sportsground on Sunday.
Rosellas batsman Aaron Wivell guided his side home with an unbeaten 48 when chasing down the Lions’ total of 134 with 26 balls to spare in the 40-over one-day final.
Man-of-the-match Wivell and Tom Allen (19 not out) joined forces for an unbroken 40-run eighth-wicket partnership after coming together at 7-95.
Dan Morton (2-28) and Josh Geary (2-26) were the pick of the Lions’ bowlers in the Newcastle District Cricket Association first grade decider.
