"You're looking a bit sandy, mate," Supercars driver Aaren Russell said to Jason Bright as he looked over the Stockton dunes to the surf below.
Bright and Scott McLaughlin had just pulled up alongside Russell, of Blackalls Park, who was keen to show his fellow drivers around his home town in the lead up to the Newcastle 500 Supercars weekend.
Bright will be driving the MEGA Ford Falcon when the Supercars take off on November 24. Russell will behind the wheel of the Plus Fitness Racing VF Holden Commodore and McLaughlin – "the most wanted man” of the 2016 season, according to his Supercars bio – will be in the Shell V-Power Ford.
But on Wednesday, the three racers embraced one of Newcastle’s famous playgrounds, flying across the dunes on quad bikes, guided by local Indigenious tourism operator, Sand Dune Adventures.
