Tony Reville described a $2.02 million sale of a Bar Beach property at auction last weekend as “a phenomenal sale for the area”.

Mr Reville and his son Isaac, of Robinson Property, marketed the original three-bedroom home on 407 square metres at 206 Brooks Street with a price guide of $1.6 million.

Thirteen parties registered for the auction on site last Saturday and bidding opened at $1.6 million.

It is only the fifth Bar Beach property to sell this year and interest was strong throughout the three-week campaign with between 70 and 80 inspections.

The property is within 100 metres of Empire Park.

“Anything around that Empire Park, people just love it,” Mr Reville said.

“They want to be there because they’ve got the park there and it’s close to the beach. You’ve only got to go around the corner there to Bar Beach Avenue and you’ve got houses worth over $4.2 million. It’s very tightly held.”

AUCTIONS ON DECEMBER 9

Thomas Hook, of Walkom Real Estate, will take a three-bedroom home at 10 O’Hara Street, Maryville. to auction at 10.30am and said “interest had been strong” for the circa 1920s house.

Recent results in the suburb indicate this could be a hot auction. Another period three-bedroom home in nearby Estell Street sold at auction for $855,000 on November 25 and is expected to be a good guide for this property.

“This street has that appeal,” Mr Hook said. “It is a nice wide, tree-lined street, has the walking track at the end of it and certainly has a lot of pluses.”
