A TOY that NSW Fair Trading claims can choke small children has been pulled off the shelves of a Hunter shop.

Minister for Fair Trading Matt Kean said on Friday a safety blitz across the state ahead of Christmas found the Light Up Monster Ball Face toy as it visited 903 businesses statewide to inspect more than 10,000 products.

Mr Kean said it was frightening how easily parts could break loose to form a hazard. “All the toys identified in the blitz have been removed,” he said.

Anyone who bought an unsafe toy is entitled to a refund, and is encouraged to dispose of the toy.
