As an arts compnay, National College of Dance is all about pushing the boundaries, and that’s what they did in taking out the Performing Arts category of the Hunter Local Business Awards.
“We had not entered into a business award before so we were apprehensive of our response,” said CEO Vicki Brown, who manages the Lambton-based operation with partner and artistic director Brett Morgan.
“We had no clue as to our chances but we feel we’ve really contributed to the Newcastle arts community and hoped the judges felt the same way.
“We were so excited about being nominated,”
Vicki said the victory was reward on multiple levels for the hard-working administration and support team behind the scenes.
“We’re so excited and so proud of our team,” Vicki said.
“They work so hard, are passionate and loyal.
“As an arts company we really try to push the boundaries of what we produce in classes and on stage but as a business it felt so satisfying that we can be recognised as a successful Newcastle business.”
National College of Dance provides after-school ballet, jazz, contemporary and acro classes from three years through to pre-professional full-time accredited courses via it’s Registered Training Organisation.
The dance school and dance academy is a vibrant and active space where focused elite dancers cross paths with junior dancers.
“Our talented and experienced teachers and our students (both adult and junior) dance with us for fun, health and pleasure,” Vicki said.
“The studio provides a range of dance classes, workshops and dance experiences in ballet, contemporary and jazz from intensive vocational and full-time elite performance training through to adult dance classes, tiny tots, acrobatics and Pilates.”
