Woman rushed to hospital in critical condition after taxi crash in Rutherford Marketplace

A WOMAN has been critically injured after she was hit by a taxi in Rutherford on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on West Mall at the Rutherford Marketplace shopping centre shortly before 8am.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

The 42-year-old female driver of the taxi was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Central Hunter police established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
