THE Rural Fire Service is battling a fire on an island off Lakeview Parade in Swansea.

The fire is being controlled and there is no threat to property, but it is generating large amounts of smoke over the lake.

Firefighters are back-burning to bring it under control.

An RFS firefighting boat is on the scene.

The alert level is at “advice”.

Another fire also burned overnight in the Swansea Channel.

And on Sunday an electrical fault is believed to have started a grass fire and caused a blackout in the Bennetts Green shops.
