Newcastle-trained Jonker has regained favouritism for Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200 metres) following Tuesday morning’s barrier draw on the Gold Coast.

The unbeaten colt will start the lucrative event from lane three and firmed into $4.20 on TAB fixed odds, jumping slightly back in front of Sunlight ($4.40) and Ef Troop ($4.80) after they collected widers gates 18 and 15 respectively.

Prepared by David Atkins with Hunter ownership connections and ridden by Winx jockey Hugh Bowman, Jonker successfully started his career last month with wins at both Broadmeadow and Wyong.

Elsewhere on the Magic Millions card for Saturday and filly Sasso Corbaro, trained by Newcastle’s Kris Lees, remains the second favourite for the 3YO Guineas (1400m) after drawing barrier 14. She is paying $6 on TAB fixed odds behind Pierata ($2.40).

Full fields for the upcoming meeting are due for release on Wednesday.
