Cricket: Undefeated Bush Blues within reach of claiming 2018 Australian Country Championships

Newcastle cricketers Nick Foster and Joseph Price have started the next phase of the Australian Country Championships in Geraldton fresh from helping the Bush Blues to a maiden T20 title.

NSW Country won the toss and elected to bowl against East Asia Pacific on Tuesday in the first of five straight 50-over fixtures to round out the 2018 tournament.

It follows on from a 49-run T20 final victory over Queensland on Sunday night.

Caleb Ziebell’s 110 from 60 balls helped NSW Country to make 3-190 before dismissing the reigning premiers for 151 in reply.

Unbeaten NSW Country, who last claimed the overall prize in 2012-2013, tackle Victoria on Wednesday, Queensland on Thursday, hosts Western Australia on Friday and finish with South Australia on Saturday.   

From the opening six T20 encounters all-rounder Price, 35 of Adamstown, has 170 runs at an average of 28.3 and nine wickets at 13 apiece.

Foster, 34 of Stockton, has two wickets from his three appearances.
