Ben Chew hit a four off the final ball of Thursday’s NCC Summer Bash encounter to claim a thrilling two-wicket victory for the Rosellas over the Whips at No.1 Sportsground.

Chew (82 off 59) was the mainstay of the Rosellas’ (Wests) innings and struck a boundary from Whips (Belmont) leg-spinner Jan Gray with the scores tied at 133.

The Whips, who earlier finished 4-133, had fought back in the dying stages and took five Rosellas (8-137) wickets in the last five overs featuring two each for Ray Cooper and Dan Bailey.

The stand-alone T20 competition continues next week with title holders the Pumas (Hamwicks) up against the Tigers (Wallsend) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Bush Blues lost to Queensland by two wickets at the Australian Country Championships in Geraldton on Thursday.
