About 7000 people are expected to descend on King Edward Park on Saturday night to enjoy a family movie under the night sky.
Newcastle Permanent’s Cinema Under the Stars will return to the city for the 11th time, with the animated film Sing set to play on a big screen in the park. The free event will start at 5.30pm, with live music and activities for kids – including a circus workshop.
The movie will begin when the sun goes down, with sunset forecast for 8.05pm. Families are being encouraged to bring blankets and picnics, though food and non-alcoholic drinks will be on sale at the park.
“We understand how much regional communities across NSW look forward to our Cinema Under the Stars events, and as a customer-owned organisation it is just one of the many ways we’re giving back to communities that support us,” Newcastle Permanent CEO Terry Millett said. Free buses will run from the car park at 92 King Street, in front of the mall parking station, from 4pm to 11.59pm, dropping-off and picking-up at the park.
