Police make four arrests following Wollombi Road incident

A LARGE brawl between two groups, armed with numerous weapons, erupted on the streets of Muswellbrook this week.

The incident resulted in four people being arrested.

About 11am Monday, the quartet – two men aged 27 and 38, and two women aged 32 and 20 – attended an address, in Wollombi Road, in a green Ford Falcon sedan, each armed with either a metal pole or a piece of wood.

A fight broke out on the front lawn between them and the residents of the home, who tried to defend themselves.

The 38-year-old man also attempted to enter the premises, where small children were being kept away from the incident.

By this stage, the victims had equipped themselves with various garden tools.

During the scuffle, a 21-year-old Muswellbrook man suffered a blow to the top left hand side of his head, causing a large laceration.

The quartet then left the scene before police arrived.

However, the victim was taken to Muswellbrook District Hospital for treatment.

About 12.25pm, the four people were located a short distance away.

They were arrested and conveyed to the Muswellbrook Police Station.

The 27-year-old was charged with reckless wounding in company, affray and common assault.

The other three people were charged with affray and common assault.

They will now appear before Muswellbrook Local Court.
