The Magpies have emerged from a dramatic final round to make the NCC Summer Bash top four playing semi-finals this Sunday.

Three teams in Pool A were locked at three wins apiece after the preliminary stage of T20 competition wrapped up on the weekend but the Charlestown side progressed with a superior quotient to both the Rosellas (Wests) and Black Roses (Cardiff).

The Magpies overcame the Sabres (City) at Harker Oval on Sunday, including unbeaten half-centuries to skipper Jed Dickson and Sri Lankan first-class import Saliya Saman, to clinch the last available spot despite earlier going down to group leaders and last year’s runners-up the Whips (Belmont).

The Black Roses won both encounters in their double header while the previously undefeated Rosellas lost back-to-back games.

This pits the Magpies and Whips against the top two from Pool B, being the Sea Dragons (University) and the Pumas (Hamwicks) respectively, in semi-finals at No.1 Sportsground. The decider follows at 4pm.

FIXTURES (Sunday at No.1 Sportsground): Sea Dragons v Magpies (9am); Whips v Pumas (12:30pm); Final (4pm).
