Rugby Union: Hunter trio lend hand in Randwick title at Lake Macquarie International Sevens | photos

Hunter trio Brydie Parker, Layne Morgan and Hannah Southwell have helped the Randwick Magic claim this year’s Lake Macquarie International Sevens title.

Randwick defeated Sydney University with a last-minute try in the women’s final at Walters Park on Saturday with Parker, Morgan and Southwell having all combined forces to win gold for Australia at last year’s Youth Commonwealth Games.

In the men’s decider Island Breeze beat NSW Iconz while North Brisbane side the Falcons took out the inaugural under-12 boys competition.

Lake Macquarie Rugby Union Club president Matt Bartley said “it was probably the best quality teams and biggest crowd we’ve ever had” at the event, which kicked off over a decade ago.
