Newcastle Knights remain in the market to sign another frontrower for this season but have ruled out making a play for Bulldogs veteran Aiden Tolman.
Tolman has been shopped around by the Bulldogs over the past few weeks and it is understood the Knights were among the clubs sounded out to see if there was any interest.
But Knights coach Nathan Brown confirmed Tolman was not a target with the club happy to bide its time to find the right player.
“Aiden’s been a good, tough, consistent player for a long time for the Bulldogs and from what I hear, an outstanding person to have around a club,”Brown said.
“But at this stage of his career, he is probably not the type of player we are looking for.
“It’s fair to say we are after another one or two middle forwards who are a bit more dynamic and quick on their feet and powerful.
“But we are happy with who we have so we are waiting for the right player.”
