Newcastle Airport has expanded its services to include international check-in and is looking towards offering overseas flights.

When it opened in 1948 for its first commercial flight, the airport was referred to as the ‘tin shed’. Passengers would stop in Newcastle on the Sydney to Brisbane flight, a leg which has since become one of the most popular routes.
