Newcastle Beachwatch with Dave Anderson: Saturday, March 17, 2018


Surfs looking promising for the weekend with offshore winds. Big incoming tide to peak mid morning and to bring a slight increase. Good clean conditions at all beaches.

Swell from the S/E to South at 1 to 1.5m. Wind North to N/W freshening West.

Better options early are off Nobbys Reefs, Cliff,Dixon and Merewether. On the high try Flatrock and Bar Reef. Burwood, Dudley and caves to the south. Samuarai and One Mile up at Port Stephens.

Heavy shorebreaks if going for a swim in the morning. Listen out for lifeguards instructions and dangerous on rocks. Water temps 23C.

Seas 1 to 1.5 metres. 1st Swell: Southerly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres during the morning. 2nd Swell: Easterly around 1 metre. 

Weather Mostly sunny. 

Caution Surf conditions may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
