Woman charged after boy run over in driveway of Woodberry home

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy is in a critical condition and a woman is facing serious charges after the child was run over in a driveway of a home at Woodberry. 

Police said the boy was struck by a Holden Commodore on Segenhoe Street about 6.30pm on Saturday.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he was operated on.

He remains in a critical condition.

The woman, 22, was arrested and taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

She was later charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), not reversing vehicle safely and altering the amount of illicit drugs in system.

She was granted conditional bail to front Maitland Local Court later this month.
