GARAGE rock legends Jet are about to be re-born and Newcastle will provide the delivery suite.
To celebrate 15 years since the Melbourne four-piece released their seminal debut album Get Born, Jet are hitting the road throughout May and June for their Get Re-Born Tour.
Wests NEX will host the opening night of the seven-date tour on Tuesday, May 29.
Jet will perform Get Born in its entirety which includes their 2003 Triple J Hottest 100 winner Are You Gonna Be My Girl? and other hits Cold Hard Bitch, Rollover DJ and Look What You’ve Done.
“The idea of playing this album and celebrating 15 years since our journey began is something that’s very special to us, and we can’t wait to get out there and see old friends again, and meet plenty of new ones as well,” Jet said in a statement.
Jet, who have been often described as a cross between AC/DC and The Beatles, became a worldwide phenomenon in 2003 as they rode a renewed interest in garage rock led by bands like The Strokes and The White Stripes.
Get Born sold 4 million albums worldwide, including 1.7 million copies in the US.
The band’s second album Shine On (2006), however, failed to continue Jet’s upward trajectory. A third album Shaka Rock (2009) was even less successful and Jet disbanded in 2012.
In 2017 brothers Nic and Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson reformed Jet to support Bruce Springsteen on a string of dates around Australia, which included a show at Pokolbin’s Hope Estate in February.
Last year the Italy-based Nic Cester also released his critically-acclaimed debut solo album Sugar Rush.
Tickets go on sale at 10am next Monday, while Telstra customers can purchase tickets from 11am Wednesday to 11am Friday.
