Arrest in bikie HQ torching

A HIGH-ranking Hells Angel bikie stands accused of driving up from Sydney and firebombing the Islington clubhouse of rival gang, the Nomads.

The accused, 27, was arrested by gangs squad police on Wednesday following a year-long investigation to the blaze at the Chin Chen Street headquarters of the Nomads.

The fire failed to take hold, although police quoted a damage bill of about $50,000.

Strike Force Felix was formed in October last year to investigate Sydney suburban shootings at Merrylands, Granville, Canley Heights and Holroyd.

It has since expanded to include drug, firearms and arson offences.

On November 16 last year, neighbours reported a fire starting inside the well-secured compound of the Nomads chapter clubhouse.

The Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad charged the suspect with damage property in company by means of fire.

He was refused bail and remanded to face Campbelltown Local Court on January 16.
