SHINY scooters were caught up among the fashion on offer at Broadmeadow yesterday.
Popular preloved clothing event Raid My Wardrobe offered a $250 lucky door prize yesterday as part of a collaboration with Bolton Street boutique Greg and Audrey’s Garage.
Raid My Wardrobe organiser Rachel Prest said the idea was to link the green elements of preloved clothing with scooters as a form of low-cost transport.
‘‘[Riding scooters] seems to have become very popular in Newcastle,’’ Ms Prest said.
‘‘There’s obviously a bit of a fashion trend that comes with that, and it shares that green element.’’
An estimated 750 shoppers scooted into the Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium yesterday seeking preloved bargains and vintage delights.
Running since 2010, Raid My Wardrobe allows shoppers to find unique and boutique bargains on a budget.
Ms Prest said the event, which will make its Sydney debut this month, had drawn a loyal following in the Hunter.
‘‘Newcastle has taken to this idea very quickly,’’ Ms Prest said. ‘‘We’ve held events at Maitland and the Central Coast, and a lot of people travel to all of them.’’
