Lucky escape for plane at Luskintyre

TWO men were lucky to escape serious injury last night when a plane was forced to make an emergency crash landing near Maitland.

The older-model two-person plane started billowing smoke around 6.45pm, causing the pilot to make an emergency landing in rural area of Luskintyre, north of Maitland.

It is unclear if  the plane took off from the Luskintyre Aviation Flying Museum, a 228-acre privately owned airfield.

Emergency services were called to the scene to treat one of the men for minor head injuries.
