Man glassed at Stockton celebration

DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was glassed in Stockton overnight.

Police said the man, 18, was talking to a woman about 11.20pm while celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Pitt Street reserve at Stockton when he was attacked by another man.

The victim was struck to the back of his neck with a glass bottle, police said, and received first aid at the scene.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police investigating Scone gunshots

HUNTER Valley police are investigating after reports of gunshots east of Scone early this morning.

Police said they were continuing inquiries after shots were reportedly heard in the Stewarts Brook area about 2am.

No-one was injured in the incident, police said.

Man suffers burns at Mallabula

A 52-year-old man was burnt at Mallabula yesterday evening when chlorine exploded in his face, paramedics said.

The man was treated at the scene for burns to his neck and face and he was transported to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
