Stable Talk: Stokes queen of country

NEWCASTLE apprentice Alex Stokes continued her run of country cups triumphs at Wallabadah, near Tamworth, on New Year's Day.

Stokes had a winning double with Red Hot Beauty in a maiden and Husisname in the Wallabadah Cup.

The Wallabadah Cup now sits alongside the Inverell, Taree, Lord Mayor's (Newcastle) and Spring (Quirindi) cups in her trophy case.

■ Broadmeadow trainer Trevor Bailey believes Trafalgar Miss has ability but will improve with her debut at Warwick Farmon Saturday.

The filly, a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase, is first reserve for the TAB Number One Club Plate over 1000 metres.

"She will win races but is still raw. Racing good opposition in town will teach her a lot," Bailey said.

"She still carries her head high and seems like she might be field-shy.

"If she won, I would have to consider taking her up for the Magic Millions."
