Flood watch and dangerous surf for Hunter

A FLOOD watch for New South Wales coastal valleys from the Queensland border to the Lower Hunter has been issued for late Saturday onwards.

The flood watch is for moderate flooding in the Patterson and Williams Valleys and advises that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings.

On the coast, City of Newcastle lifeguards have issued a dangerous surf alert.

The alert said the lifeguards are expecting large seas and strong winds from Saturday, creating dangerous surf conditions over the long weekend.

Children, fisherman and rock fisherman in particular should exercise caution and all beach-goers are asked to obey all warning signs and direction from lifeguards.
