MORE than 800 shoppers turned out to shop in time for the skies to clear at Sunday’s Raid My Wardrobe event in Newcastle.
Raid My Wardrobe is a market dedicated to second-hand women’s fashion and sustainable shopping founded by Newcastle mum of two, Rachel Prest, as a way to de-clutter her wardrobe.
Clothes left unsold at the end of the day are given to a charity, and this time the recipient was Wesley Mission.
This is the fifth year of Raid My Wardrobe, and Ms Prest said the latest event had been a roaring success.
‘‘It was fantastic,’’ she said. ‘‘The clouds cleared and it was a fantastic day. So many ladies were walking out with bags full of clothes.
‘‘People commented on the great variety of such high quality clothing.’’
Ms Prest is developing the idea into an online store to supplement the physical market days. The site is in its final stages of testing and Ms Prest said she hoped it would be launched by the end of September.
