HUNTER men will be grabbing life by the ‘‘bowls’’ in the International Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
For four Thursdays through September, men are being encouraged by the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance to play some barefoot bowls at Kahibah Sports Club.
The top two teams from the competition will progress to the Aloha Bowls Competition run by Bowls NSW where the major prize is a trip to Hawaii.
HPCA chief executive John Toussaint said events like these were a chance for men to get together and talk about prostate cancer.
They were also hoping to encourage younger men to get tested for the disease. ‘‘This is our ‘stress free’ way of getting their attention and getting the word out that health checks help save lives.’’
The event starts at Kahibah Sports Club today at 5.45pm.
