Man facing serious drug supply and gun charges following search warrant on premises on Campden Street, Thornton

THIS pen is definitely mightier than a sword.

Central Hunter drug squad detectives made a eyebrow-raising discovery on Thursday when they raided a Thornton residence as part of an investigation into methamphetamine (ice) supply.

Among the items allegedly seized during the search warrant was a small metal pen, which could hold and shoot a small calibre bullet.

The “single-shot pen gun”, as well as a small quantity of ice, was taken away for analysis.

Other evidence discovered at the Campden Street property prompted investigators to arrest a 39-year-old man at his home and take him to Maitland police station.

He was later charged with supplying large commercial quantity of prohibited drug, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing ammunition without holding a licence or permit, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was refused bail.
