Newcastle trains: Delays after lightning strikes damage signal equipment

SEVERE weather has stopped trains on the Newcastle Line, prompting lengthy delays.

The Transport Management Centre said lightning strikes had damaged signal equipment at Wyong, delaying trains between Gosford and Fassifern and through to Newcastle.

To ease delays, passengers are being advised to delay their trip.

Bus companies were being contacted to organise replacement buses, but they were yet to arrive at time of writing.

Passengers are also advised to listen to announcements and check indicator boards as train stopping patterns may change at short notice.
