Lake Munmorah crash leaves six people injured

SIX people who crammed into a two seater van have been taken to hospital after a crash in Lake Munmorah.

Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Paul Johnson said a 19 year old male driver allegedly had two unrestrained passengers on the front bench seat and three on a mattress in the rear of the vehicle when it crashed into a telegraph pole in Anita Avenue about 9.20pm on Saturday.

“The driver was breath-tested at the scene and indicated positive to alcohol, but due to his injuries was conveyed by ambulance to hospital where a blood sample was taken,” Inspector Johnson said.

“All occupants were taken by ambulance to John Hunter or Gosford Hospital for treatment for injuries that ranged from a possible foot fracture to fractured vertebrae.”

Investigations continue.
