Following a 57-36 win over Penrith in their top division debut, Hunter upped the ante against Baulkham Hills on Thursday night. Coach Traci Baber said rookie Gray was among their best.

“Abbie started and she was amazing,” Baber said. “She shot the lights out and was player of the match, but everyone got on and they all played really well.”

“The first week was average but last night they were really good.

“We were up by only four at quarter time and it was goal for goal. It was tough and they were very physical.

“We told them at quarter time that they had a bit more defence-wise in them across the whole court, and to step it up, and they did.”

The Newcastle open championship does not return until April 29. Hunter United play Illawarra, who are also undefeated, next week in Metro League.
