PORT Waratah Coal Services employee Marty Corrigan has been named as the first receipient of the Kristen Keegan Future Leaders Program Scholarship.

The scholarship is a joint initiative of HunterNet and the Hunter Business to honour the legacy of former Chamber chief executive and Hunter businesswoman Kristen Keegan, who lost her battle with cancer in February.

The assessment panel said Mr Corrigan, an operations superintendent at the Carrington terminal of PWCS, had “detailed his aspirations to become a future leader in the Hunter, highlighting the importance of meaningful working relationships within the business community.”

He has a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Honours) and a Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting.
