Man, 22, charged after search allegedly reveals unregistered firearm

A MAN has been charged after a body search allegedly revealed an unregistered pistol.

Police said the weapon was found about 2.30am on Saturday, after a car was pulled over for a random breath test on Shoal Bay Road in Shoal Bay.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, returned a negative result, but he was searched.

Police allegedly found a metal air pistol on the man.

He was charged with possession of an unregistered pistol.
