Man in hospital after assault in Hamilton

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Hamilton on Friday.

The man, 35, was hit after leaving a Beaumont Street hotel about 2.30am with friends.

An argument broke out with another man on Cleary Street and the 35-year-old was assaulted.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he was in a serious but stable condition.

Police are searching a man of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 20s, who was wearing jeans, a white T-shirt and a black jacket at the time of the incident.
