Hunter flocks to Market Street Lawn in Newcastle for vintage games event

NEWCASTLE’s Market Street Lawn has been transformed into a village green from a bygone era, to allow the young and young at heart to try their hand at skittles, croquet, quoits and bocce.

Revitalising Newcastle’s vintage games event was the second in its Game Changer series, which aims to provide interactive Sunday afternoon activities in the space between Wharf Road and Scott Street, at the intersection of Market Street.

Program director Michael Cassel said the lawn was public domain. “We view the lawn as a place connecting the city to the water and a place where there is always something happening - a destination in Newcastle.”

Revitalising Newcastle also subleases the space to organisations to hold their own events, such as to Hunt & Gather Events for night food market Street Feast.
