Norths defender Matt Dawson has helped Australia to a perfect record and a spot in the quarter-finals at the hockey World League play-offs in Johannesburg.
Australia thrashed Japan 7-2 in their final pool game on Tuesday after earlier wins over France, Spain and New Zealand to top Group A.
They face Egypt, the fourth-placed team in Group B, in quarter-finals on Thursday (AEST).
The Kookaburras took the lead after just 12 seconds of the game against Japan when captain Mark Knowles netted a penalty stroke and never looked troubled.
The top four teams in Johannesburg will progress to the World League finals in India in December, joining the host nation and earlier qualifiers Netherlands, Argentina and England.
