FIRE crews have gotten the upper hand on a 10-hectare grass fire burning near Hexham, with no immediate threat to homes.
Firefighters were called to the blaze near the Hunter Wetlands, on Millams Road, about 7am.
The fire was being controlled, with its severity rated as “advice” by the Rural Fire Service.
The fire is being fanned by north-westerly 30km/h wind gusts.
Parks personnel have been evacuated.
There were 11 units on the scene.
