AN earthquake has hit the Hunter Valley town of Muswellbrook, with reports residents felt the tremor early on Saturday morning.
The magnitude 2.3 earthquake had a depth of one kilometre and struck at 7.18am on Saturday, Geoscience Australia reports.
The earthquake monitoring site reported the quake occurred near the township and the tremor was felt by residents in the area.
