Police investigate after girls, 9 and 10, approached at Hawks Nest

TWO children have been approached at Hawks Nest, with police appealing for help to speak with a man who could assist their inquiries.

Investigators were told two girls, aged nine and 10, were walking their dog along Monterra Avenue just before 6pm on Thursday when a white four-wheel drive passed them.

The car did a u-turn before stopping in front of the children.

Police were told a man approached the nine-year-old, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her towards the vehicle.

She broke free and the girls fled the scene.

Port Stephens police are investigating. They would like to speak to a man described as being aged in his 40s and balding with grey hair.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt.

Inquiries are continuing.
