Oktoberfest event at the Pourhouse Maitland a huge success

The costumes were loud and the beers were authentic at the Pourhouse's Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday.

The venue was at capacity for the German-style celebration, which coincided with the annual Munich celebration.

Organisers organised to have Lee Street closed to traffic to make way for a German beer garden.

All of the beer on tap had been imported direct from Germany, with 13 options for the punters to enjoy.

There were also authentic steins for the attendees to take home, professional German dancers and entertainment provided by German band – The Oompah Pa's.

"Oktoberfest has to be done in style doesn't it?” Pourhouse manager Benn Giles said.

Mr Giles said the event was a huge success, and would come back bigger and better next year.
