Countdown to Port Macquarie festival

Oysters, wine and hopefully, sunshine, will be in abundance at Port Macquarie’s Tastings on Hastings on October 27-29.

The Mid-North Coast’s biggest culinary and cultural festival is now in its 15th year and attracts around 20,000 people. This year’s line-up of new satellite events will take people to the food source at coffee roasters, oyster farms, wineries and hinterland producers.

The main event sees the Hastings food bowl converge by the Hastings River in Port Macquarie with over 100 local farmers, producers, artisans, winemakers, brewers, bakers and chefs.

Guest chef: Matt Golinski will star at Tastings on Hastings, Oct 27-29.

Seafood will take centre stage at the Oyster Barn where celebrity chef Matt Golinski will showcase the variety of local oysters.

Enjoy entertainment, lanterns, live-music and a buzzing atmosphere for the whole family.

More intimate events include a series of dinners on Friday, October 27, at The Stunned Mullet (one hat in The Good Food Guide for four years running), a seafood experience at Bills Fishhouse and a beer degustation feast at the Latin Loafer.

Meet the wine-maker over a Long Lunch at Cassegrain Wines, learn how to cook from the vegetable patch at The Sustainable Table with Matt Golinski, and join Frankies Travel for food tours to local coffee roasters, oyster farms, breweries and wineries.

“Tastings on Hastings is the perfect weekend to soak up the sunshine, relaxed holiday vibe and tasty Spring produce grown with our abundant food bowl.” says Liesa Davies, group manager, economic development and communications, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

“This year we’re delighted a few of our best hinterland producers will also host events and we’ve launched the ‘Tastings on Hastings Favourite Foodie’ Awards to acknowledge the people, places, provedores and producers in our region.”

Port Macquarie and the surrounding region is renowned for oysters, avocados, strawberries, tomatoes, macadamia nuts, garden vegetables, free range eggs, chicken, duck and pork.
