Daniel was introduced to local Disability Employment Services provider Job Centre Australia at a job expo in 2015 and less than a month later, he was placed into a role with McDonald’s Edgeworth.
“As soon as we met him, we knew he would be perfect for a role within McDonald’s,” Job Centre Australia’s Hunter operations manager Anthony Workman said.
“Daniel attended one of our weeklong specialised training sessions as part of our Golden Opportunities program and McDonald’s obviously saw the same great qualities as he commenced work pretty much straight away.”
Daniel, who now been employed for over 18 months at McDonald’s Edgeworth, has never missed a shift and continues to receive regular positive feedback from employers for his exceptional table service and customer service skills.
With almost one in five Australians reported to be living with disability, Job Centre Australia work with businesses to create a workforce that is reflective of today’s society.
“With many businesses struggling to find good reliable staff, we encourage employers to think about building a diverse workforce and the benefits it can bring to their business,” Anthony said.
Daniel continues to work with Job Centre Australia and is a regular participant of the NDIS program, Choice and Control, where he polishes his social skills.
Working on site with a trainer, Daniel continues to grow in his role and is pleased that his dream job is all that he had hoped for.
