Police: Man faces multiple charges after pursuit north of Newcastle


Police had to deploy tyre spikes overnight to end a pursuit through three local area commands.

A 29 year-old man has been charged under Skye’s Law after, police allege, his vehicle failed to stop for a random breath test at around 10.30pm on Sunday night on Main Road at Fennel Bay.

A pursuit was initiated , which passed through Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Port Stephens Local Area Commands, lasting for around 50 minutes, police said. Tyre spikes were deployed at Ferodale, north of Newcastle, which brought the vehicle to a stop.

The man was charged with disqualified driving, driving under the influence of drugs, breach of bail and other traffic matters. He was expected to face court at Raymond Terrace on Monday.
