WELL, it turns out Take That aren’t coming back (for good) to Newcastle.
The UK ‘90s boy band giants have cancelled their Newcastle Entertainment Centre show on November 19 due to poor ticket sales.
The concert, which featured Australian pop star Dannii Minogue as support, was part of Take That’s first Australian tour since 1995.
Take That’s other shows at Perth Arena (November 11), Adelaide Entertainment Centre (November 13), Melbourne Rod Laver Arena (November 15), Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (November 17) and Brisbane Entertainment Centre (November 18) are still scheduled as planned.
Take That scored a No.1 single with Back For Good in 1995, but have never enjoyed the same level of success in Australia as the UK, where they attracted waves of hysteria.
A British government telephone hotline was even commissioned to offer support to distraught fans when they originally broke up in 1996. The group reformed a decade later.
In Australia Take That are arguably most famous for giving Robbie Williams his break in the music industry.
However, Williams and Jason Orange are no longer part of the group. This latest Take That tour features the three-man line-up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.
