FORMER AEK Athens winger Patricio Rodriguez arrives from Argentina on Wednesday morning and, baring a mishap, will make his debut for the Newcastle Jets against arch rivals Central Coast on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old has signed a short-term contract with the Jets and had been in his homeland waiting for a visa to be approved.
“He is on a flight from Bounes Aries and arrives here Wednesday morning,” Jets football operations manager Joel Griffiths told The Herald. “Our aim is to get him settled and bring out his family as quickly as possible.”
The Jets play Sydney FC in Sydney Wednesday night but Griffiths said Rodriguez would most likely travel straight to Newcastle.
“He will have a week of training before the Mariners game,” Griffiths said. “He is relatively fit. He left AEK in December and has been working with a personal training. It will depend what Ernie sees at training as to whether he starts or comes off the bench.”
