The Diamonds, a show featuring songs that became hits when performed by female singers over the past 50 years, has become a hit since it was launched in 2013 by SMA Productions, with the singing trio Casey Burgess, Shikye Smith and Hannah-May Buckley.
The trio are backed by band The Players and wear stunning costumes while performing songs to the choreography of Cameron Mitchell, whose work was featured in the television series So You Think You Can Dance.
The show’s success in Sydney and other major cities, with the singers also doing numbers from the show at business, civic and sporting events, including one in Singapore, led to its first Australian tour in 2016, and it has continued to have audiences in a singalong mood nationwide.
A performance at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Friday, February 9, will mark the launch of the venue’s 2018 season. Tickets – $60, $55 concession – include bubbles and canapés, with foyer activities from 7.30pm and the show at 8pm. Bookings: 4993 4266.
The trio of singers have been involved in stage shows and television works, with Casey Burgess beginning her career as a member of the internationally successful children’s ensemble Hi-5, and Shikye Smith moving at age 19 to Paris to perform at the iconic Moulin Rouge for two years.
The songs in The Diamonds include Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Born This Way, Respect, Say A Little Prayer, It’s Raining Men, I’m Every Woman, I Will Survive and many more.
