MEASURING UP: Standards are high at PURE, each and every team member will follow a process to help you find the best running shoe for you and your training.

Whether you’re new to running or a seasoned athlete, selecting the right running shoe for anyone can be challenging.

Trends come and go. Shoes with minimal support were once in fashion and now have been replaced with models with maximum cushioning. One thing is for certain; shoe technology and materials will continue to evolve.

Brands are also constantly changing their models so sometimes sticking with one brand doesn’t always make sense.

Some runners are so blinded by brand loyalty or shoe colour that one of these two factors become their sole reason for selecting the shoe they purchase.

To select the best shoe PURE  match the shoe technology with your foot type and biomechanics, considering the type of running you are undertaking including weekly distance and terrain.

To make sure you leave PURE with the best pair of running shoes to suit you, there is a five step consultation process;

Understanding your needs:

As part of the initial consultation PURE discuss your current activity level, future fitness goals and also consider the terrain you like to train on, as well as past or current injuries or niggles.

Analyse:

Using specialised software the highly trained team will analyse your barefoot running/walking motion on our treadmill. This is called gait analysis. It also shows how your body’s biomechanics perform during activity.

Fit:

PURE measure Heel to Toe length and foot width using a Brannock Device. However, the most important measurement is the Heel to Ball length (Arch Length) as there are short-toed feet and long-toed feet. While their overall Heel to Toe length may be the same, they will require different size shoes as most shoes are designed to flex at the ball of the foot.

Recommendation:

Taking into consideration your running history, age, biomechanics and foot measurement the experienced team at PURE will present you with a selection of running shoes that are suitable for you. The shoe selection takes into account if you require a neutral or supportive shoe, a low or high heel drop and the selection of a suitable running shoe for the terrain you train on and weekly distance you run.

Try it before you buy it:

Each shoe is fit to your foot and comfort is reviewed before you take it for a run outside so you can feel how the shoe performs.

At PURE, the team are all runners; from social runners to the elite, so they can discuss experiences and make recommendations to you based on those experiences.PURE has stores in Newcastle, Warners Bay and Maitland or shop online: www.pureperformance.com.au
