One of the hottest new music talents from Ireland, 26-year-old Ryan McMullan, has just been booked to play Newcastle.
McMullan was on the latest addition to the Bluesfest line-up at Byron Bay over Easter.
Lizotte’s owner Brian Lizotte confirmed McMullan will play a show at his Newcastle venue.
McMullan is somewhat of a protege of Foy Vance, a breakthrough Irish folk singer who has also played the Lizotte’s stage.
McMullan’s press material notes: “Growing up in picturesque Portaferry, on the shores of Strangford lough and in sight of the Mourne Mountains, Ryan was formed by the traditional music and pub sing-alongs with which rural villages in Ireland are indelibly linked.”
After supporting Ed Sheeran’s arena tour in 2017, McMullan followed up with his own (largely sold out) UK and European headline tour complete with a triumphant homecoming gig at The Limelight in Belfast.
McMullan’s debut album is likely to be released this year.
