THE Hunter’s considerable creative sector is being urged to enter the NSW Government’s Creative Achievement Awards.

Minister for Trade and Industry Niall Blair said creative industries were significant drivers of innovation, jobs and economic growth.

“Creative industries are big business for NSW employing around 212,600 people, or 42 per cent of Australia’s creative workforce,” he said.

There are three award categories: the NSW Creative Laureate, the Emerging Creative Talent Award, and for the first time a $3,000 NSW Young Creative Award. Leading fashion label Romance Was Born's Anna Plunkett said winning the $15,000 emerging creative talent Award last year’s helped the label access new markets.

Nominations close March 16. See nswciawards.com.au.
