Quad bike, drugs, $13,000 cash seized, man charged at Jesmond

A man has been charged after police located suspected stolen goods, including a quad bike, drugs and $13,000 in a ute on Monday.

About 9.30pm police from Newcastle City Police District were conducting speed enforcement duties on Main Road, Jesmond.

Officers stopped a blue Holden Commodore Utility transporting a quad bike.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Mt Druitt, returned a negative result to a roadside breath test.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly seized more than $13,000 in cash, as well as items believed to be illicit drugs.

The quad bike was also seized by police.

The man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The man was granted bail and will appear Newcastle Local Court on Thursday March 22, 2018.
